Commissioning a quilt is a beautiful way to commemorate life’s milestones.
Whether it’s a long career, a special anniversary or a departed loved one that you wish to memorialize, this is a way to turn much-loved garments into a pillow, wall-hanging or quilt for you to treasure.
We’ll meet (in person or via Zoom) to talk about the design of your quilt and the clothing and fabrics you want to use. We’ll agree on colors, complexity and dimensions,
I will then deconstruct the garments as necessary and piece together a beautiful quilt top with the resulting fabrics.
After it’s quilted, I bind the edges of the quilt, finishing it by hand
Your quilt will have a label, with the wording of your choice.
A quilt is a sandwich of three layers: the patchwork top, the fluffy batting, and the back. I make the top and the back, then all three layers are quilted; stitched together decoratively. I am able to quilt small to medium projects with a simple grid of stitching. This is included in the price. For fancier stitching the quilt can be sent to a custom quilter equipped with a special long arm quilting machine. This will increase the length and cost of the project.
